Considered one of the most influential artists of his time, Rauschenberg career lasted almost 6 decades. He was a precursor to the pop art movement. His mediums include photography, printmaking, collage and assemblage. His unique style redefined the course of 20th century art. American (1925-1952)
This exhibition of Rauschenberg work from The Ringlings collection in Sarasota, Florida ,celebrates along with several other museums across the country the 100 year celebration of the artists birth. Several of the artists major pieces are on display. Significant examples of works on paper, collage and photographs from his most productive era. The 70’s and 80’s.
The centennial celebration honors Rauscenberg’s impactful time in Florida and his radical blending of materials and methods, which is admired for challenging the status quo.
Any other reason for his radical choice of materials is most certainly because he rarely had the financial means to purchase art supplies.
